BSQUARE Adds a Robot Lab to its CE Training Class

Hi, I’m Dan Slaeker. I’m the BSQUARE Training Manager. I was asked to write about the latest edition to our CE Training class: a robot lab.

We added a hands-on robotics lab to our 5-day Windows Embedded CE 6.0 training class to give our students the chance to get the satisfaction of using CE 6.0 to solve a real-world problem. The lab pulls together all the concepts we teach in the class and gives them the satisfaction of solving a real-world problem with Windows CE 6.0

We are running the new lab for the first time this week in our training class in Boston. Students here will build a CE 6.0 image that programs a sensor head controlled by a servo and pans 180 degrees to determine the location of the nearest object within the field of view. The field of view is approximately 80 centimeters.

See a photo of the BSQUARE robot here taken in our classroom in Bellevue, Washington as we were preparing for our new lab.

Our robot is based on a Phidget device, a USB module that, in our case, supports server control. (See www.phidgets.com) Phidget modules also exist for analog to digital conversion, digital I/O, IR sensors, and more.

Stay tuned for more information on how the new robotics lab goes in Boston.
